If Pastors Ben & Melissa were to be described in one word, it would be “Servants.” They have dedicated their lives from early on to serving the Kingdom. So when God started speaking to them six years ago about launching a church, they jumped in with Passion, Excitement and Fervor! They spent the next five years serving as junior high youth pastors and being trained at Faith Landmarks Ministries in Richmond Va.
Ben & Melissa have served in many different ministries over the years both in full time and volunteer capacities and God has brought them to where they are today through serving. Ben & Melissa both studied at World Changers Bible Inst. in Nashville, Tn (1994 & 2001 respectively) as well as Virginia Commonwealth Univ. in Richmond, Va. where Ben studied Chemistry and Melissa studied Finance. God has used their very successful careers in the corporate world to further train them and give them insight into the needs and culture of our society.
“In so many ways the church has lost relevance with our society’s needs. And while pop-culture is a great entryway for the church into the world in which we live, it is only a small part of being relevant to our world.” – Pastor Ben.
Ben & Melissa believe that God has blessed them in the business world not only to propel them financially into the launch of Generation Church but also to give the church a fresh perspective in serving real people in a very real and relevant way. Ben helped launch and worked on staff at Believers Church in Sylvania, Ga in the late 90’s and Melissa worked in youth ministry until they met in 1999 in Virginia and were later married August 4th 2001.
